What are the benefits of mindfulness meditation?

  1. Understand your pain: Mental pain and anxiety are a background noise that can underlie much of what we do. Here’s a chance to see firsthand what’s causing it.
  2. Lower stress: There’s lots of evidence these days that excess stress causes lots of illnesses and makes other illnesses worse. Mindfulness decreases stress.

Lesson from my Daughter

My daughter taught me to love myself. Birthing a beautiful chocolate princess with cotton coils and a dimpled smile opened my eyes to the beauty that is me. The way she studies how I hold my shoulders curve my lips and tame my hair brought awareness to how I carried myself.

 I had to think …

“Am I teaching my daughter to like herself or love herself?”

“Am I putting up with my looks or appreciation my looks?”

Before my daughter I had not considered the importance of presenting myself to the world. Not as a performance, but in an intentional way that says, “I am important, I am loved, and I deserve respect.”

While I compliment my daughter and show her love, I realized that the most effective way to teach her self-worth and confidence is to SHOW self-worth and confidence.

Meditation Monday!

Ok, ladies and gents, by now you should be looking forward to your moment of positivity, light, and rejuvenation. God says in His word that above all He wishes that you prosper and be in good health. Do you know that stress and worry can negatively affect your health? Today give your mind some medicine, take a moment away from the clutter of the day and find Gods peace, so that you too can prosper and live the life God intended for you. Selah #SLiM

Meditation Monday

Sometimes the beginning of the week can be the most hectic. We have lists in our minds, paper on our desks, and people to put up with on our jobs. At this moment, and in this space you have an opportunity to relax your mind and your anxieties. Choose to have 30 minutes of peace right now! The work, todos, and people will still be there when you’re done I’m sure of it. But when you choose to have mental health, you offer your “best self” to the day. After refreshing your mind and spirit, the rest of the day is forced to get into alignment with the standard of peace you have presented to yourself. Check out this clip from Dr. Beckwith and let me know what you think! Selah #SLiM
