Wisdom Wednesday

A little wisdom goes a long way. I have made it a habit to have a healthy mind, body, and spirit, so every Wednesday I would like to share with you some wisdom that has helped me. Enjoy

Todays Quote :

“Happiness is not an accident. Nor is it something you wish for. Happiness is something you design”

The world would like us to believe that happiness is something that should rain down like dew from the sky when in all actuality is something you create. The way you create happiness is through perspective, gratefulness, and peace, all of which require work. So today choose to create a world where you and the little ones around you are happy.

Holiday Cooking- Snowman Cake

Get in the seasonal spirit with this stunning snowman cake. It will be a hit with the whole family and kids will love getting involved with the decorating!

Ingredients

For the buttercream

To decorate

  • icing sugar , for dusting
  • 500g pack white fondant icing
  • ready-to-roll icing (we used a mixed pack green, blue, orange and black, or you can use white fondant icing mixed with food colouring)

Method

  • STEP 1Heat oven to 180C/160C fan/gas 4. Butter and line the bases of two 18-19cm cake tins with baking parchment.
  • STEP 2Beat the butter and sugar with an electric whisk until pale and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, and beat well, scraping down the sides of the bowl after each addition. Add the lemon zest, vanilla, flour, milk and a pinch of salt and blend until just combined, then evenly divide the mixture between the tins.
  • STEP 3Bake in the centre of the oven for 25-30 mins until a skewer inserted into the middle of each cake comes out clean. Cool the cakes in their tins for 10 mins, then turn out onto a wire rack and leave to cool completely.
  • STEP 4To make the buttercream, put the butter in a large bowl and beat with an electric whisk until fluffy. Add the icing sugar 2-3 tbsp at a time until it is all incorporated, adding the vanilla and milk halfway through. Sandwich the cakes together with a little of the buttercream and put on a board. Use the remaining buttercream to cover the sides and top of the cake. Chill for 30 mins.
  • STEP 5To decorate, roll out the white fondant icing on a surface lightly dusted with icing sugar until large enough to cover the top and sides of the cake. Drape the fondant icing over the cake and carefully mould to fit. Trim off any excess, wrap and set aside.
  • STEP 6Roll out the green icing and cut out a semi-circle, using the base of the cake tin as a guide; this will be the snowman’s hat. Brush one side with a little water and stick on the cake. Cut a strip of green icing and make some markings to make it look like the band of a hat, then trim to the correct length and stick on.
  • STEP 7To make the nose, shape a round, flat lump from the orange icing. Mark a smile by gently pressing the rim of a water glass into the fondant. Cut out two circles from the black icing for the eyes, then add a small circle of white icing (from the offcuts) to make the eyes appear to sparkle. To make the scarf, wrap a strip of the blue icing around the base of the cake, then use a knife to add cuts for the fringe. Will keep for up to a week in an airtight container in a cool place.

Prayer for Children

I would like to shout out IMOM for the 10 prayer topics we should pray over our children. I believe that prayer has power, and it is our responsibility to cover our homes and our children with the word of God. Join me every week as we share a powerful prayer topic for your little genius!

1. Pray for faith.

We do what we can to give our children a steady diet of the truth, but at some point they must embrace a relationship with God on their own. (Luke 2:52 “Jesus grew in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and all the people.”  John 10:27 “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.”)

It’s Craft Time- Paper Roll Animals

Crafts are a fun way to get personal with your little one. It is an intentional time to be silly, messy, and creative!

As parents we are always directing and instructing. It is good to show your little genius that you too can follow directions and have fun. During craft time, let your little one lead the way. When you take time to do fun things with your little genius, you are teaching them that life is fun!

Below I have posted a craft for you and your little genius. If you do the craft be sure to comment and post a picture!

Paper Roll Animals

  • Toilet paper rolls or paper towel rolls cut down to a shorter length
  • Paint – we used acrylic
  • Cardboard from a cereal box or something similar
  • Googly eyes
  • Construction paper
  • Black Sharpie marker
  • Glue – Tacky Glue is a good choice

First, paint your cardboard tubes a solid color. Tan, brown, and white are good color choices.

Attach the eyes, ears, and nose with glue.

Then cut out paws and a tail from cereal box cardboard. Paint them, and then add pads to the paws with a Sharpie marker.

Glue on the paws and the tail, and your doggie is complete!

And you’re done!!

HOW TO MAKE A PAPER PLATE BEE CRAFT

Supplies:

Step 1: Paint the paper plate yellow and let it dry. We used small paper plates but any size plate will work just fine.

Step 2: Use a pom pom with a clothespin as handle to paint black stripes on the paper plate. Start at the bottom and go about halfway up. Leave the paper plate yellow at the top as this is where we’ll glue the googly eyes.

Step 3: Paint two wooden clothespins black and after they dried up, glue two black pom poms at the top. One pom pom for each clothespin. These will be the bee’s antennae.

And you’re done!!

How to Make Easy Pipe Cleaner Finger Puppets

Start by wrapping a pipe cleaner around your finger 3-4 times, leaving half of the pipe cleaner unwrapped.

Fold the straight end of the pipe cleaner to make one ear, then another, securing in the middle.

Glue a matching pom-pom over the part of the pipe cleaner where the ears intersect. This also secures your puppet in place.

Attach google eyes. And you’re done!!

Angels For Protection Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

I ask You to loose Your angels in great abundance in my presence, into my home, properties, buildings, and work places to protect me, guard me, and to keep out anything that is not of You, Lord Jesus.

Heavenly Father, I ask You to create a hedge of protection by loosing Your Mighty Warring angels around me, my home, work places and every place that I set my feet on this day to protect me from any evil or harm. In Jesus Christ Holy Name we pray.

Amen!

How to help the Seniors in your community

Would you like to be bright light in the life of a Senior in your city? Check out these ideas to see how you can help. Special thanks to signupgeniuses.com for such wonderful ideas.

1.Adopt a “grandfriend”. Write them letters, call them, and visit often.

2. Gather friends and create a “shop squad” to pick up groceries and medicine for elderly.

3. Deliver meals to homebound individuals.

4.Gather family and friends and organize a summer songfest or play to perform at a nursing home.

5. For the holidays, go caroling, bring (easy-to-eat) treats, or just go and visit senior citizens.

6. Offer to read to people.
