Rainbow craft sticks makes this a mess free and super easy craft for kids to create.
Cut out two cloud shapes the same size from a white foam sheet. Use tacky glue to glue a red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple craft stick in a line at the bottom of one of your cloud shapes.
Then line up and glue the second cloud on top of the other.
Add some personality to the rainbow craft by adding self-adhesive googly eyes in the middle of the cloud and then give your cloud a cute smile with a black marker.
Let dry and enjoy!

The best Love bug craft for kids! I’m Kate and I blog over at The Craft Train, where we share crafty ideas for kids and parents. We are thrilled to be taking part in Red Ted Art’s ‘31 Days of Love‘ series once again.
LOTS of ideas to inspire you.. and now to these adorable Toilet Paper Roll Love bugs! Too cute!
Kids love hearts, glitter, flowers and being creative so it is understandable that they are attracted to making Valentines Day crafts. They don’t really get the concept of ‘true love’ at this age, but that doesn’t mean that they can’t join in the fun and make some cool stuff. These Love Bugs are very simple to put together and the sky is the limit to how they can be designed and decorated. My five and six year old girls had a blast making these.
You will need a few basic supplies to form the base of these bugs, but when you get to the decorating part you can use whatever you fancy (or whatever you happen to have in the cupboard).
For your TP Roll Love Bugs, you will need:
You basically need toilet paper rolls and ANYTHING ELSE you can find in your craft statsh.. but we used:
– Toilet rolls or paper towel rolls cut to size. – Paint – Googly eyes – Pipe cleaners – Beads – Construction paper – Tacky craft glue – Marker pens – Scissors – Skewer
How to make TP Roll Love Bugs for Valentine’s Day:
Paint some toilet rolls and allow them to dry. You can cut them down to a shorter length to get some smaller bugs if you like. We happened to have some ready-painted rolls stashed away in the craft box so we could get straight to the decorating.
First, an adult needs to poke six holes with a kitchen skewer for the pipe cleaner legs to go through – that’s three down each side. Simply poke the skewer in one side and out the other three times.
Cut two pipe cleaners in half to get four pieces. Use three of the pieces to thread through the holes to make six legs, then attach a small bead to each end of the pipe cleaners to create hands and feet. You are now ready to add the details. You can also add some washi-tape stripes or decorate the body with stickers, markers, glitter glue etc.
To create the wings and antennae fold your piece of construction paper in half and draw a medium-sized heart for the wing shape and a small heart with a stem coming from the bottom for the antennae. Cut these out while the paper is folded in half so that you get two of each shape. Use tacky craft glue to attach the googly eyes and heart shapes last of all and leave to dry.
Aren’t these little love bugs cute? Such a fun little TP Roll craft for Valentine’s Day!
Get in the seasonal spirit with this stunning snowman cake. It will be a hit with the whole family and kids will love getting involved with the decorating!
ready-to-roll icing (we used a mixed pack green, blue, orange and black, or you can use white fondant icing mixed with food colouring)
Method
STEP 1Heat oven to 180C/160C fan/gas 4. Butter and line the bases of two 18-19cm cake tins with baking parchment.
STEP 2Beat the butter and sugar with an electric whisk until pale and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, and beat well, scraping down the sides of the bowl after each addition. Add the lemon zest, vanilla, flour, milk and a pinch of salt and blend until just combined, then evenly divide the mixture between the tins.
STEP 3Bake in the centre of the oven for 25-30 mins until a skewer inserted into the middle of each cake comes out clean. Cool the cakes in their tins for 10 mins, then turn out onto a wire rack and leave to cool completely.
STEP 4To make the buttercream, put the butter in a large bowl and beat with an electric whisk until fluffy. Add the icing sugar 2-3 tbsp at a time until it is all incorporated, adding the vanilla and milk halfway through. Sandwich the cakes together with a little of the buttercream and put on a board. Use the remaining buttercream to cover the sides and top of the cake. Chill for 30 mins.
STEP 5To decorate, roll out the white fondant icing on a surface lightly dusted with icing sugar until large enough to cover the top and sides of the cake. Drape the fondant icing over the cake and carefully mould to fit. Trim off any excess, wrap and set aside.
STEP 6Roll out the green icing and cut out a semi-circle, using the base of the cake tin as a guide; this will be the snowman’s hat. Brush one side with a little water and stick on the cake. Cut a strip of green icing and make some markings to make it look like the band of a hat, then trim to the correct length and stick on.
STEP 7To make the nose, shape a round, flat lump from the orange icing. Mark a smile by gently pressing the rim of a water glass into the fondant. Cut out two circles from the black icing for the eyes, then add a small circle of white icing (from the offcuts) to make the eyes appear to sparkle. To make the scarf, wrap a strip of the blue icing around the base of the cake, then use a knife to add cuts for the fringe. Will keep for up to a week in an airtight container in a cool place.
Crafts are a fun way to get personal with your little one. It is an intentional time to be silly, messy, and creative!
As parents we are always directing and instructing. It is good to show your little genius that you too can follow directions and have fun. During craft time, let your little one lead the way. When you take time to do fun things with your little genius, you are teaching them that life is fun!
Below I have posted a craft for you and your little genius. If you do the craft be sure to comment and post a picture!

Step 1: Paint the paper plate yellow and let it dry. We used small paper plates but any size plate will work just fine.
Step 2: Use a pom pom with a clothespin as handle to paint black stripes on the paper plate. Start at the bottom and go about halfway up. Leave the paper plate yellow at the top as this is where we’ll glue the googly eyes.
Step 3: Paint two wooden clothespins black and after they dried up, glue two black pom poms at the top. One pom pom for each clothespin. These will be the bee’s antennae.
